Jelly Rubber
This is the most common sex toy material around, and this lovely stuff comes in a mind-boggling array of colors. It's soft and springy, yet firm, and transmits vibration well. Jelly rubber should always be cleaned before use, and normally has a slight odor that goes away after a few days out of the package. This material is porous, meaning it should always be cleaned immediately with a mild soap (or an unscented anti-bacterial soap) and warm water after use, rinsed and dried thoroughly. Never share jelly rubber toys unless covered with a condom, and never use anally before vaginal use. Store away from heat and sunlight.
Glass
Our glass toys are manufactured to perfection. This wonderfully smooth, heavy material is completely nonporous, meaning that it will not absorb bacteria. Glass can be heated in warm water and cooled in ice water, though you should never boil or freeze glass. Store in a soft cloth, and be careful not to let glass toys knock into each other. Also, do not strike glass toys on a hard surface.
Silicone Gel
It's soft and springy, yet firm, and transmits vibration well. Silicone gel should always be cleaned before use with a mild soap (or an unscented anti-bacterial soap) and warm water, and it cannot be boiled. This material is porous, meaning it should always be cleaned immediately after use, rinsed and dried thoroughly. Never share silicone gel toys unless covered with a condom, and never use anally before vaginal use. Store away from heat and sunlight.
Technoskin
Technoskin, or "softskin" or "cyberskin" is an amazingly life-like material. It is really soft, warms quickly to touch and body temperature. It can be warmed before use in hot water, but care should be taken not to get water in non-waterproof vibrators. Technoskin should always be cleaned before use with a mild soap (or an unscented anti-bacterial soap) and warm water, and it cannot be boiled. This material is extremely porous, meaning it should always be cleaned immediately after use, rinsed and dried thoroughly. It will also absorb color, such as lipstick and newsprint. This material should never be stored next to, or used with jelly rubber toys, as the two materials will damage each other. Never share technoskin toys. Store away from heat and sunlight.
Latex Allergies
A growing number of people are discovering they have an allergy to latex, with reactions ranging from mild to extreme. Mild allergies can first appear with irritation after using latex condoms or jelly rubber toys. If you notice irritation after using condoms, toys or lube, figure out where your irritant is coming from through process of elimination. Change lubes, change toys, or change condom materials until you find the culprit. Try using your favorite toy with a condom over it to see if the toy material is the source of your discomfort--however, people with latex allergies will not be able to experiment with latex condoms. People with latex allergies should not use jelly rubber or silicone gel toys, and should instead use glass, hard plastic or other non-rubber materials. And always, talk to your doctor about your symptoms and reactions.
